PHILANTHROPY IN ACTION

My Purpose

"Creating materials out of nothing for teachers and children in rural Ecuador; for illiterate women in Bolivia; for kindergarteners in the South Bronx. All of my life's work has led me here."

Get Real with rit. (grrit.) is a multifaceted literacy activism initiative. Erin Carroll is a leader in her field; fiercely devoted to achieving literacy equity globally.

With her expansive background working with children, families, schools, and organizations across the United States and South America, Erin is committed to implementing systems that work and create real change.

There are many hard-working advocates and programs funding literacy initiatives right now. What makes Erin's work different is that it is home-grown, not-for-profit, radically holistic, and deeply integrated.

1. Initiate widespread awareness around the complexity of learning differences and neurodiversity affecting global literacy development.

2. Connect all children, caretakers, educators, and service providers to essential books, resources, and meaningful sustainable systems of support.

Mission.

Integration = Collaboration

At the heart of Responsive Integrated Teaching™ is the notion that literacy and learning can no longer be addressed in silos. There are fantastic programs and curricula available, along with teachers and specialists making change in their insular communities. Unfortunately, we are too far behind to continue trying to address this issue alone.
